Gifts for your favourite hiker

Most of what leaves this workshop is a present for somebody else. Here is how to land it when you know the person better than you know their trail.

Start where you are

They just love walking

Some people do not have one route, they have the habit. Hikers Keepsakes are for the walking itself rather than for a named trail.

You cannot name the walk

Tell me what you do know and I can usually work out which route it was.

It was a particular walk, you just cannot name it

Tell me what you do know. Where they set off, where they finished, roughly when, anything they kept talking about afterwards. That is usually enough for me to work out which route it was. If it is already in the shop, I will point you at it. If it is not, I can draw it as a custom keepsake, which is a different piece of work and priced accordingly, so whether that is worth it to you is your call.

Before you order, or after. After is fine within 24 hours: until then, anything can still be changed. And it is worth asking even when you think you know: the Camino Frances runs across northern Spain, not through France, and it is not the only name that sounds like somewhere else.

You cannot get hold of a photo

You do not always need one. Most keepsakes come in a version with the painted trail artwork instead of a photograph.

It is needed by a certain date

Getting a keepsake ready to print usually takes 2 to 6 business days, then printing and post. These are usual times, not a guaranteed arrival date.

If the date is close, ask me for a printable card insert. Once your design has gone to print I can build a card from it, with a frame and room for a handwritten line, so the person has something in their hands on the day and the keepsake follows.

There were two of you

Several keepsakes can go in one order, with the same photo or a different one for each. Posting them together usually costs much less than posting them separately.

Still not sure

I would rather talk it through than have you guess.
